10 Golden Rules for Oktoberfest - Published by the City of Munich -

1. Backpacks and large bags are generally prohibited at the Oktoberfest. Leave any non-essential items at home. 2 . Bags and backpacks brought along may have a maximum volume of three litres and may not be larger than 20 cm x 15 cm x 10 cm. They will be checked by the security staff. 3. Even if they fit in your smallest bag, the following items are prohibited: Aerosol spray cans with hazardous contents, corrosive or staining substances; objects that could be used to cut, slash or stab. Glass bottles are also banned. 4. On Saturdays and on October 3 rd , the “Day of German Unity”, prams are not permitted all day. On the other days of the Oktoberfest, this ban on prams applies from 6 p.m. The security staff will check them. 5. Bicycles, scooters, skateboards and similar are not permitted on the festival grounds. 6. Animals are not allowed at the Oktoberfest at any time, except for assistance dogs. 7 . Plan your journey: When possible, use alternatives to the underground lines U4/U5 and the underground station „Theresienwiese“. If you arrive at the main station, you can also walk to the Oktoberfest. If you are coming by underground from the west, get off at „Schwanthalerhöhe“ if possible. Please also use the stops „Goetheplatz“ and „Poccistras se“ (underground lines U3/U6). 8. Use all of the entrances around the Oktoberfest grounds. 9. The Oktoberfest is at its best when there aren‘t any large crowds. The Wiesn Barometer at oktoberfest.eu shows you the best times for a quiet stroll around the site. 10. No visitors are permitted on the festival grounds between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
